Revolutionary sustainability in trenchless rehabilitation technology – The BIO-Liner

Swietelsky-Faber GmbH presents the BIO-Liner, an innovative close-fit lining system that sets new standards in trenchless rehabilitation technology. The BIO-Liner represents a new process technology that completely dispenses with fossil raw materials and is therefore an important milestone in Swietelsky-Faber's sustainable product selection.

Manufactured from a material that can be recycled up to eight times, and using ethanol derived 100% from wood waste, the BIO-Liner completely dispenses with fossil raw materials. This environmentally friendly solution, which is already being used successfully in Scandinavia, is now also available in Germany and Austria and has been awarded the “Proof of Sustainability” certificate by the RSB Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials Association.

A pioneering project in Austria

The first BIO-Liner DN 300 has arrived in Austria and will be installed shortly. “We are delighted to hold the first drum of the BIO-Liner in our hands and are looking forward to the upcoming installation,” says Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Brunecker, management director of Swietelsky-Faber GmbH.

Swietelsky-Faber, the executing construction company, works closely with A-Plast, the manufacturer of the BIO-Liner. The application of this technology marks a significant step towards sustainable infrastructure and resource conservation.

Sustainability and legal requirements

The use of the BIO-Liner is in line with current legislative initiatives on climate neutrality and the requirements of EU Directive 2022/2464 (CSRD). Swietelsky-Faber GmbH has been preparing at an early stage for the challenges of sustainability reporting and the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and consistently integrates these criteria into its business processes. This will not only contribute to achieving climate targets, but will also create competitive advantages in acquiring contracts and employees.

A look into the future

With the introduction of the BIO-Liner and other innovative technologies for the trenchless rehabilitation of sewage pipes, which do not use fossil raw materials and significantly reduce the CO2 footprint, Swietelsky-Faber GmbH is setting an important impetus for the industry. Despite the initially higher costs, the company sees the increased focus on sustainability as an opportunity to secure and expand its competitiveness in the long term.
